Entering the final year of his rookie contract with the Vikings, wide receiver Stefon Diggs says getting a richer deal isn’t on his mind.
“On a day-to-day basis I don’t really think about it,” Diggs said during an appearance on NFL Network. “I let those things kind of figure themselves out. My job is to put the work in and let that stuff figure itself out, and it will. I’m 100 percent confident it will.”
Diggs is due to make $1.9 million in 2018 before entering free agent territory after the season. As a core piece of Minnesota’s passing attack, Diggs is one breakout season from getting a massive contract.
As 247 Sports notes, Minnesota still could get a team-friendly deal Diggs, much like they did with Adam Thielen’s 4-year, $19 million extension prior to the start of last season.
If the Vikings play out the 2018 season without extending Diggs, they risk a much bigger deal, perhaps in the line of the five-year, $75.5 million ($47 million guaranteed) that Jarvis Landry recently signed with the Browns, making him the fifth highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL.

Not only can Diggs and his agent bring his impressive statistics to the negotiating table, they can also brag about players around the league praising Diggs to the point that he was ranked 65th in NFL Network’s Top 100 Players of 2018.
Meanwhile, Diggs and fellow Vikings wideout Adam Thielen have spent time in Atlanta working out with quarterback Kirk Cousins, whom Diggs says he loves running routes for.
“It’s important to spend that extra time, especially getting to know a guy outside of football. It’ll create some chemistry and get on the same level,” Diggs said.
