The Minnesota Vikings will be without tight end David Morgan for the rest of the season.
The Vikings announced Friday that Morgan will be undergoing season-ending surgery.
The 26-year-old started the season on the physically-unable-to-perform list, which ruled him out for the first six games of the campaign.
It comes after he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee after last season.
While he is behind Kyle Rudolph and Irv Smith Jr. on the Vikings’ depth chart, Morgan has been effective as a blocking tight end since he was drafted in the 6th round by the Vikings in 2016.
He’s also filled in on several occasions on special teams, notable as the long snapper last season after Kevin McDermott lost his pinky finger.
The Vikings have plenty of cover though at tight end, with Rudolph, Smith Jr., and Tyler Conklin on the roster.
