The Vikings added yet another member to their re-tooled defense through free agency Thursday.
Fox Sports North says the team signed former Panthers cornerback Captain Munnerlyn to a three-year contract. Multiple reports say the deal for the 25-year-old Munnerlyn is for $15 million.
Munnerlyn, who is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 195 pounds, started all 16 games for the Panthers last season.
The cornerback was a seventh-round pick by the Panthers in the 2009 NFL draft. He has played at least 14 games each of his four seasons in the league and started 50 games, FOX Sports North says.
Of Munnerlyn’s seven career interceptions, five have been returned for touchdowns.

Also Thursday, the Vikings re-signed defensive tackle Fred Evans to a one-year deal. The Star Tribune says the re-signing of Evans shouldn’t impact the Vikings’ pursuit of free agent defensive tackle Henry Melton.
Melton, a former standout with the Chicago Bears, visited with the Vikings at Winter Park Thursday.
