Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Greg Childs was clutching his right knee when he was carted off the field toward the end of Saturday’s training camp scrimmage. Fox Sports North reports the rookie went up to catch a pass and screamed in pain as he hit the ground.
The Vikings confirmed Childs tore the patella tendon in both his right and left knees. He’s expected to have surgery in the coming days and will miss the entire 2012 NFL season, the Star Tribune reports.
Meanwhile, the Vikings have signed rookie Chris Cook, a 6-4, 318 pound guard. The Green Bay Packers released the undrafted rookie on July 25.
