Babatunde Aiyegbusi hasn’t played a snap in the NFL and he’s already talking trash about the best defensive player in the league, Houston Texans defensive lineman, J.J. Watt.
Aiyegbusi, the 6-foot-9, 351-pound offensive lineman signed by the Vikings last month, told USA Today Sports’ Tom Pelissero that he won’t be satisfied until he lines up against Watt and dominates him. Here how Aiyegbusi put it when reciting a conversation he had with Vikings Director of Pro Scouting, Ryan Monson.
“What surprised Ryan (Monnens, the Vikings’ director of pro scouting) – I wasn’t jumping around, like big, happy of signing it,”Aiyegbusi recalled recently between sips of a remarkably tiny-looking iced tea.
“He was like, ‘Are you not happy?’ I said, ‘I will be happy when I put (Houston Texans star) J.J. Watt to the ground.’ (Monnens) started laughing.”
Advice for the big man:
- Pack a lunch
- Be patient
First of all, the Vikings don’t play the Texans in 2015. But more importantly, Aiyegbusi is talking about putting the first-ever unanimous NFL Defensive Player of the Year flat on his back.
Watt finished last season with 20.5 sacks, 78 tackles, 1 interceptions, 5 fumble recoveries and 5 total touchdowns (3 receiving, 1 interception return, 1 fumble return), per CBS Sports.
Just a few days ago Watt successfully completed a 61-inch box jump. In other words, from a flat-footed position, Watt jumped almost as high as Aiyegbusi is tall.
