Vikings rookie left tackle Matt Kalil was named as a replacement player for this weekend’s Pro Bowl, the team announced Friday.
Kalil, who was the fourth overall pick in last year’s NFL draft, will be stepping in for injured Washington Redskins tackle Trent Williams. Kalil was previously selected as an alternate.
Four Vikings — Adrian Peterson, Jared Allen, Jerome Felton and Blair Walsh — were initially selected to play in the Pro Bowl. In addition to Kalil, Chad Greenway and Kyle Rudolph were named as replacements.
Greenway is replacing Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware, while Rudolph is in for Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzales. Both players bowed out with injuries.
Kalil is the fourth Vikings rookie to make the Pro Bowl since 2007, following Peterson, Percy Harvin and Walsh.
