As of Friday, the Vikings and Falcons will play as scheduled at noon Sunday, although any new positive COVID-19 test could change the situation.
One player and one team staff member tested positive earlier this week, prompting the Falcons to clear team headquarters on Thursday. The team announced that the NFL gave the team the option of returning to the facility at noon Thursday, but it elected to remain virtual out of an abundance of caution.
On Friday, however, the Falcons resumed in-person work at their practice facility, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter reporting that “tests have cleared” and Sunday’s game in Minnesota is on track to be played.
So long as the Falcons (and the Vikings, who also test everyone daily) don’t have any new positive tests Saturday, the game will be played Sunday afternoon at U.S. Bank Stadium.
“Barring any new positive tests, the Falcons are still expected to travel to Minnesota and play the Vikings on Sunday,” the Falcons’ team website says.
So far, the NFL has had to reschedule eight games after postponing the Week 5 matchup between the Patriots and Broncos.
All eyes are also on the Indianapolis Colts, who announced Friday morning several individuals who have tested positive for the disease caused by the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). The Colts are scheduled to face the Bengals on Sunday.
