With the high school football season set to begin in full force next week, the Minnesota Vikings announced the six teams that’ll participate in three games at the team’s Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center this season.
The Vikings Prep Spotlight games are played at TCO Stadium and will feature four teams from the Twin Cities metro and two teams from greater Minnesota.
- Friday, Sept. 20: Shakopee vs. Eden Prairie, 7 p.m.
- Friday, Sept. 27: Apple Valley vs. Chaska, 7 p.m.
- Saturday, Sept. 28: Mankato West vs. Rochester Mayo, 6 p.m.
“High school football is one of our greatest traditions in America,” Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman said in a statement. “The values and lessons our game teaches young people are foundations they carry on for the rest of their lives. We are proud to share our field with the next generation of football players and hope they make memories for a lifetime.”
Spielman’s son, J.D. Spielman, was a football star at Eden Prairie and is now entering his junior season as a wide receiver with the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Tickets will be sold at participating schools and will cost the same as tickets for any other regular home game for the home teams (Shakopee, Apple Valley, Mankto West). Students will also be offered discounted tickets ($10) to tour the Minnesota Vikings Museum.
Parking at the facility is free.
Last year, Spring Grove, Mahnomen/Waubun, Caledonia, Rochester Lourdes, SMB, Owatonna and Lakeville North won state championships.
