Wild 4
Coyotes 3
The Minnesota Wild took the early lead then held off Arizona 4-3 Thursday night in Glendale, Arizona.
1. Killing off the Coyotes
The Wild penalty kill was outstanding Thursday night. Arizona was 0-for-7 on the power play as the Wild continually turned them away.
Minnesota even had a short-handed goal when Mikko Koivu made it a 3-0 game in the second period.
2. Quick start propels Wild
Arizona came into the game at 3-0, and hadn’t so much as trailed on the season yet, but that changed early as Zach Parise and Thomas Vanek put the Wild on the scoreboard with two first period goals.
Koivu: for sure we have to be better than the way we finished the game, but road win is always good, especially 1st one of road trip

3. Vanek’s 300th goal
It didn’t take the former Gopher Vanek long to pick up his 300th career goal during Thursday night’s game.
Less than a minute after Parise lit the lamp, Vanek raced down the side boards and made a nice sharp angle goal to beat Mike Smith to push the Wild lead to 2-0.
