The top-ranked University of Minnesota women’s hockey team extended their NCAA record winning streak to 40 consecutive games on Saturday afternoon at Ridder Arena, the Pioneer Press reports.
Senior Mira Jalosuo netted a power-play goal in overtime to lift the Golden Gophers to a 3-2 victory over Bemidji State, according to GopherSports.com. It was first overtime period of the year for the Maroon & Gold.
The Star Tribune notes the Gophers shut out the Beavers Friday, 8-0, for their 39th victory in a row.
Next weekend, the U of M women’s hockey team will aim to be the first team in NCAA history to complete an undefeated regular season when they visit St. Cloud State.
