There’s a lot of moving and shaking within the Twins’ organization right now. Here’s the latest on Fernando Romero, Byron Buxton, Miguel Sano, Ervin Santana and Jorge Polanco.
Fernando Romero
The rookie right-hander was optioned back to Triple-A Rochester to make room for relief pitcher Alan Busenitz, who was called up on Sunday. Romero had a 1.88 ERA after his first five starts, and now five starts later he owns a 4.38 ERA.
Byron Buxton
Buxton, optioned to Triple-A Rochester after being activated from an injury to his big toe, is attempting to fix his swing in the minors and it seems to be going well. He has a hit in three straight games, including a three-run homer on Friday.

Miguel Sano
Sano is down at Class A Fort Myers trying to figure out his swing after hitting just .203 this season with the Twins. So far, not so good. The big man is 0-for-8 with three strikeouts in his last two games.
Ervin Santana
The 2017 All-Star pitcher hasn’t played this season because of lingering issues from finger surgery he had done in February. But he did throw 35 pitches in a bullpen session on Friday and if all goes well in another bullpen session on Monday, he’ll likely begin a rehab assignment at Class A Fort Myers.
Jorge Polanco
The shortstop is due to come back from an 80-game suspension on July 2. The Twins plan to get him some at-bats as the designated hitter with Class A Fort Myers on Sunday, and then start at shortstop for Fort Myers on Tuesday.
Once he’s eligible to come off the restricted list, the Twins will either have him join the 25-man roster or put him on the 10-day disabled list.
Polanco was a big part of Minnesota’s offensive surge late last season. He finished with 30 doubles and 74 RBI.
He was suspended 80 games for testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug.
