Minnesota’s deep lineup was on display in a 7-3 win over the Pirates in a snowy Pittsburgh Wednesday night.
Here are three things you need to know from the game.
1. Dozier homers again
Brian Dozier’s solo home run got the Twins on the board in the third inning, and it was his fourth straight game with a homer. He also drew a pair of walks and stole a base.

The season is only a week old, but Dozier is one of only four MLB players with 4 homers (Bryce Harper, Charlie Blackmon, Matt Davidson).
2. Big nights for Sano, Escobar
Miguel Sano and Eduardo Escobar combined for 5 of the Twins’ 9 hits while driving in 2 runs apiece. Sano finished 3-for-5 with a double and a pair of singles. Escobar went 2-for-3 with a double to up his batting average to .438.
Remember, Escobar wouldn’t be starting if not for shortstop Jorge Polanco’s 80-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs.
3. The good and bad of Rosario
Eddie Rosario had himself an interesting game. With the Twins trailing 3-2 in the fifth, Rosario took a would-be RBI single and threw out the runner at the plate to end Pittsburgh’s threat.

Then the bad Rosario showed up. He hit a pop foul near home plate and decided not to run, only to watch the ball land in fair territory for an easy out.

Note: After pitching 6 shutout innings in his first start last week, Jake Odorizzi served up a long home run to Josh Bell in the first inning to put the Twins in a 2-0 hole. He lasted just 4 1/3 innings while allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks.
