The Minnesota Twins’ spring training home in Fort Meyers, Fla., is getting a major facelift, the Pioneer Press reported.
The team and Lee County announced Friday that nearly $40 million in upgrades will be made to Lee County Sports Complex. Among the changes is an expansion of seating in Hammond Stadium from 2,000 to 9,300.
The Twins, of course, are undergoing some renovations of their own after another losing season.
This week the team added Tom Brunansky, Terry Steinbach and Bobby Cuellar to manager Ron Gardenhire’s coaching staff, and declined to pick up reliever Matt Capp’s $6.5 million contract option — offering a $250,000 buyout instead.
