The Minnesota Twins are sending designated hitter Kennys Vargas, who has been struggling at the plate, to Class AAA Rochester, manager Paul Molitor said after the Twins’ Sunday afternoon loss to Tampa Bay.
Vargas, in his second year in the majors, has struggled in the first six weeks of the season and struck out five times in his last three games, the Star Tribune reports.

“They just tell me to go back down to try to figure out how to get my rhythm back and start to produce,” Vargas said, according to 1500ESPN.com.

“I think the best thing for him is to go down there and find a groove and relax a little bit and then hopefully start to play a little better,” Molitor said of Vargas, according to 1500ESPN.com.
Kennys Vargas said he wasn't necessarily disappointed by the demotion.

To fill Vargas’ roster spot, the Twins are activating Eduardo Nunez, who’s been on the disabled list, said the Star Tribune.
Nunez is expected to be available for Tuesday’s game against the Pirates in Pittsburgh, Molitor said. The Twins have an off day Monday.
