Twins prospect Miguel Sano was held out of the lineup for a second straight game at Class Double-A New Britain Thursday.
Paul Molitor tells Judd Zulgad that Sano was benched for an inappropriate celebration after hitting a home run during a game Tuesday night.
“Just a normal player-development decision,” Twins farm director Brad Steil informed the Pioneer Press. “We have discipline for all sorts of things that we do. This is one of them. He’s not going to play for a few games.”
“He’s going through a little bit of a learning process in Double-A,” Steil continued. “He’s probably been frustrated at times. Twenty years old in the Eastern League — that’s a tough league. Like any young player, he’s going to have to learn to make adjustments.”
Sano’s homer on Tuesday was his fourth in the last six games. He has 26 home runs this season between Class A Fort Myers and Double-A.
