It wasn’t until June 13 that the Twins won their 20th game last season. This season, the first-place Twins can reach 20 wins Tuesday night at home against the Colorado Rockies.
It’s the start of a stretch of games that should help answer the question: Are the Twins for real?
The National League West-leading Rockies (24-15), Orioles (22-14) and the AL West-leading Astros (27-12) are all on the Twins’ schedule between now and the end of May. All three are very good. In fact, Fox Sports released MLB power rankings at the quarter pole of the season and the Astros were No. 1, the Orioles No. 4 and the Rockies No. 6. The Twins were 14th.
If the Twins can stand up to baseball’s best… well, anything is possible.

To this point, Minnesota hasn’t played the best of the best with the exception of Cleveland and Boston. Only three of the Twins’ 19 wins are against teams that currently own a winning record.

- 5 – White Sox (17-19)
- 2 – Tigers (18-18)
- 2 – Indians (20-17)
- 2 – Rangers (19-20)
- 2 – Athletics (16-22)
- 1 – Red Sox (19-18)
The good news is that Minnesota plays 12 of the next 15 games at Target Field, including three each against the Rockies and Astros.
