In what can easily be described as some of the worst extra inning baseball played this season, both the Twins and White Sox simply refused to score until Trevor Larnach’s risky base running broke the deadlock as the Twins pull out a 7-3 win Thursday afternoon.
Byron Buxton’s team-leading eighth home run in the bottom of the eighth leveled the game at two, but neither team was able to breakthrough in the following inning and a half.
Nick Gordon to pop out on a bunt attempt on the first pitch in the top of the tenth as the Twins struggled to move Willie Castro from second. Carlos Correa, who homered in the sixth, struck out swinging to end the tenth with Castro not moving from second.
Chicago then loaded the bases with just one out in the bottom of the tenth but Hanser Alberto and Elvis Andrus struck out swinging as the White Sox failed to take advantage of the situation.
Minnesota struck out three straight times in the top of the 11th while Emilio Pagan went unscathed in the bottom.
Finally in the 12th inning the Twins rocked White Sox with five runs, starting off with Larnach’s run scored off a shallow left field hit by Jose Miranda.
