The Detroit Tigers took advantage of another shaky outing by the Minnesota Twins bullpen, using a five-run seventh inning to defeat the Twins 7-3 on Saturday afternoon.
The afternoon got off to a rocky start for Jose Berríos when Robbie Grossman led off the game with a home run. With Berríos lacking his usual command, the Tigers capitalized with a Niko Goodrum double in the fourth to take a 2-0 lead.
But after the Twins endured a pair of rain delays on Friday night, Josh Donaldson brought some of his own. “The Bringer of Rain” smashed his third home run of the season in the fifth inning to tie the game at 2-2.

While Berríos walked the tight rope throughout his six innings of work, the Twins offense couldn’t get going. That left the door open for the Tigers to take the lead in the seventh against Tyler Duffey.
Miguel Cabrera drove in the go-ahead run when Donaldson couldn’t handle a line drive in his glove and the Tigers broke the game open with another RBI double from Goodrum to go ahead 5-2.
The Tigers continued to torment Derek Law with a Jake Rogers single that drove in two runs and effectively ended the game. While Josh Donaldson drove in a run with an RBI double in the eighth, the Tigers were able to even the series.
The Twins (12-20) will go for the series victory against the Tigers on Sunday afternoon.
