It looks like the Twins will get an extended look at top prospect Oswaldo Arcia.
He rejoined the team Wednesday after outfielder Darin Mastroianni went on the disabled list with an ankle injury.
The Twins say Mastroianni will be out at least three weeks, according to the Pioneer Press.
As for Arcia, the Twins will likely give him plenty of playing time until Mastroianni returns. He made his major league debut Monday, subbing for Wilkin Ramirez. But when Ramirez returned from paternity leave, Arcia was sent back to Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.
Now that he’s back, manager Ron Gardenhire tells MLB.com that Arcia will remain a corner outfielder with Ramirez serving as the club’s backup center fielder to Aaron Hicks.
“He can swing it,” Gardenhire said of Arcia, who was scheduled to play in Wednesday’s lineup against Los Angeles — which was eventually rained out.
