The Minnesota Twins fell 3-1 in extra innings to the surging Baltimore Orioles at Target Field Friday night.
The Twins will be disappointed they didn’t put more points on the board, with Baltimore lefty starter Cole Irvin entering the game with a 6.29 ERA and having recently being recalled from Triple-A. Irvin however only gave up one run across his 6.1 innings.
The Twins had a similarly excellent performance from Bailey Ober, who also conceded the lone earned run over 6.0 innings, and the score remained locked at 1-1 through nine innings.

Lineup scored just one run for the third time in seven games since the players-only meeting, two of which were started by Orioles lefty Cole Irvin.

It looked for a second as though Edouard Julien – pinch hitting for Kyle Farmer – had a walkoff home run off superstar Orioles closer Felix Bautista in the bottom of the ninth, only for his ball to fall just foul with Target Field already celebrating.
On to the 10th the game proceeded, with the Twins’ own ace closer Jhoan Duran continuing into a second inning, only to give up an RBI double followed by a sac fly to give the Orioles the 3-1 advantage.
The Twins couldn’t get a sniff off of Bautista – returning for a second inning – as Baltimore improved to 52-35 and the Twins dropped back to 45-44.
