Joe Mauer’s RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the eighth lifted the Twins over the Indians, 3-2 Friday night at Target Field.
That’s three straight wins for the Twins going back to last weekend’s series against the Yankees.
Minnesota fell behind by two runs when Michael Bourne doubled home a pair in the third inning. Trevor Plouffe’s two-run single in the sixth tied the game.
Before Plouffe’s big hit, the Twins had just one hit through the first 5 2/3 innings against Cleveland left-hander Scott Kazmir.
Glen Perkins pitched a perfect ninth for his 22nd save of the season.
It’s Minnesota’s first win on a Friday night this season. They were an unreal 0-13 on Friday nights entering the game.
Take a look at the first 13, in which they were outscored 81-31.
