The Minnesota Twins celebrated the 30 year anniversary of the 1991 World Series championship team on Saturday night and to commemorate the occasion the Twins shut out the Tampa Bay Rays for a 12-0 victory.

Perhaps the Twins got a lift from the festivities that included several Twins greats as they scored four runs in the first inning highlighted by a leadoff home run by Max Kepler.

The Twins continued to hammer Rays starter Michael Wacha in the third with a solo home run by Luis Arraez. The Twins added another run on an Andrewlton Simmons RBI single before Brent Rooker added a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to make it 9-0.
With plenty of run support, Kenta Maeda was masterful on the mound, throwing six shutout innings and holding the Rays to three hits to get the win. Ralph Garza Jr. and Danny Coulombe combined for three shutout innings out of the pen to help the Twins take home the victory.
The Twins will host the rubber game of the series on Sunday afternoon when Charlie Barnes (0-2, 6.08 ERA) opposes Luis Patino (2-3, 4.64 ERA) for a 1:10 p.m. first pitch.
