The Twins have a prospect in their minor league system with the last name of Gordon, but perhaps the nickname “Flash” might be more appropriate for their major league shortstop.
Eduardo Nunez, who was playing shortstop for the Twins Tuesday night against Baltimore, is often seen flying around the diamond without a helmet as he hustles on the base paths.
However, on Tuesday it was his defensive speed that helped the Twins protect an early lead against the Orioles. In a first and third situation with two outs, the Orioles’ Manny Machado tried to keep a run down going long enough for the tying run to score.
But Nunez and his blazing speed had other ideas.

At the time, it was a key play for the Twins, helping Minnesota hold onto their 1-0 lead.
But Baltimore used back-to-back home runs from Machado and Adam Jones to highlight a 5-3 victory at Target Field.
