Ehire Adrianza and C.J. Cron drove in all of the Twins’ runs in an 8-1 victory over the White Sox Saturday afternoon at Target Field.
Cron’s two-run double in the first inning plated the first two runs of the game, and he made it 4-1 Twins with a two-run single in the fourth. That’s when Adrianza took over with an RBI single to score Cron to make it 5-1 in the fourth, and he put put the final nail in Chicago’s coffin with a 386-foot three-run homer in the eighth.
It was more than enough run support for Kyle Gibson, who allowed just one run on five hits while striking out nine in seven innings. The right-hander is now 5-2 and has lowered his ERA to 4.08 – down from 6.10 a month ago (April 21).
Minnesota has won 10 of its last 11 and is 19 games over .500 (35-16). They go for the series sweep Sunday at 1:10 p.m. Jake Odorizzi starts for the Twins against Chicago right-hander Dylan Covey.
