Detroit Tigers 6
Minnesota Twins 5
Minnesota lost to Detroit again after giving up their lead twice in Sunday’s game. Their record is now 7-18.
1. Strong start
After losing to the Tigers twice this week, the Twins started off Sunday’s game strong with two runs in the first inning.

Pitcher Ricky Nolasco only allowed one run in the second, and the game was scoreless for both teams through the third and fourth innings.
2. Mauer on fire
First baseman Joe Mauer’s bat was on fire Sunday. He went 3-5, almost hitting a home run in the fifth inning which was upheld as a double after the umpire’s review. Still, his RBI put the Twins back in the lead. They scored two more runs bringing the score to 5-2 going into the sixth.
So. Close… to a home run for Mauer. Still, it's an RBI double off the top of the wall.#MNTwins lead 3-2!

3. Late game downfall
With two outs and two runners on in the top of the sixth, Nick Castellanos hit a three-run homer off Nolasco to tie up the game.
Castellans with a 3 run HR to tie the game. Awesome! Feel bad for Nolasco, he was pitching brilliantly. #tigers #mntwins

Then the Twins worked their bullpen. Fernando Abad replaced Nolasco to close out the inning. Trevor May relived Abad in the seventh, and then Ryan Pressly took the mound in the eighth. The score stood at 5-5.
Detroit’s winning run came in the top of the eighth inning when Eduardo Escobar bobbled the relay, allowing Justin Upton to score off a double.
Looked like the #MNTwins might have had a shot at Upton, but Escobar couldn't handle the relay
