Joe Mauer busted out of his slump with three hits three RBI to help lead the Twins over the Brewers, 11-3 Friday night in Milwaukee. Denard Span, who returned to the lineup after missing three games with a strained hamstring, also drove in three runs.
Supplying the Twins with more offense was Josh Willingham. The cleanup hitter went 2-4 with his 8th home run of the season.
The top of the order was dominant for Minnesota, Span, Brian Dozier, Mauer, Willingham and Justin Morneau combined to go 12-25 with 11 RBI and 8 runs scored.
Scott Diamond improved to 3-0 with the win. He allowed three-runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings. Francisco Liriano pitched the ninth inning. He needed 32 pitched to get out of the inning. He left the bases loaded without allowing a run.
