Eddy Julien homered and had three hits and Alex Kirilloff finished a double shy of the cycle as the Twins dumped the Mariners 10-3 Tuesday night in Seattle.
Bailey Ober gave up three runs in the first inning to erase the 2-0 lead the Twins gave him to start the game, but the offense responded with a three-run homer by Kirilloff in the third inning, a Julien solo homer in the fourth followed by Kirilloff tripling and Max Kepler doubling him home for a 7-3 lead.
Julien was batting second in the order and Kirilloff hit third in place of Byron Buxton, who was given the day off amid his 1-for-31 slump that has seen his batting average dip to .196 on the season.
Leading 8-3 in the ninth, the Twins piled on with solo homers from Kyle Farmer and Carlos Correa .
Ober, who gave up three runs on six hits in the first inning, allowed just two more baserunners the rest of his outing. He gave up a single in the sixth and then hit a batter in the fifth, but other than that he was perfect and wound up going six innings and striking out five to lower his ERA to 2.74 this season.
Up next: Twins at Mariners, Wednesday at 8:40 p.m. CT.
