It was virtually meaningless in terms of winning and losing, but the Twins’ bats exploded in a 15-8 win over the Detroit Tigers on Thursday night.
Minnesota scored three runs in the first inning, five in the second and then added seven more in the sixth to set a season high for runs scored. Joe Mauer, Logan Fortsythe, Jorge Polance and Miguel Sano – batting one through four in the lineup – combined to go 11-for-17 with two home runs, three doubles, nine RBI and 10 runs.
Forsythe, the second baseman the Twins got back in the trade with the Dodgers involving Brian Dozier, went 5-for-5 to improve his batting average to .449 since joining the Twins.
Minnesota got home runs from Sano and Polance. For Sano, it was his 10th of the seaosn and second in as many nights as he continues to show the form at the plate that made him an All-Star in 2017.

Thursday’s victory was Minnesota’s 120th game played this season. They have 42 to go before entering a critical offseason.
