The Minnesota Twins say they are aware of unconfirmed accusations against Miguel Sano that have come out of his home country, the Dominican Republic.
“We are aware of the reports and at this point still trying to gather information. We will continue to monitor the situation and hope to have more as soon as it becomes available,” a Twins spokesperson said.
According to El Nuevo Diario, a publication in the D.R., Sano is accused of being involved in the kidnapping and assault of a man. Sano is quoted by the media outlet as saying the accusations are “false” and that he “did not kidnap or beat up” anyone.
The report adds that Sano said he’s planning to sue his accusers “for damages to my image,” also adding that he was planning to hold a press conference Wednesday to “speak and show my face, because those accusations against me are serious.”
To Bring Me The News’ knowledge, that press conference has yet to take place.
