Newsflash: sports fans like to watch winners.
The Business Journal reports that, for the first time since the Minnesota Twins changed up their home field to Target Field, the club is on pace to finish in the bottom half of Major League Baseball’s attendance stats.
At the All-Star break, home game attendance averaged 31,062. That puts the team at 17th among MLB’s 30 teams. If slumping attendance numbers hold, the Twins will put just over 2.5 million fan’s fannies in the seats this season, down from a peak of more than 3.2 million in 2010, the first season at Target Field.
The Los Angeles Dodgers currently lead MLB in total attendance, drawing an average of 44,229 fans. The hapless Miami Marlins are at the bottom of the list, with 17,416 fans per game.
