The Twins picked up their first extra-inning win of the season Wednesday night, with a 6-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
The win snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Rays, at Tropicana Field.
Chris Colabello‘s base hit in the 12th inning scored Joe Mauer and Trevor Plouffe and gave the Twins a two-run lead. For Colabello it was his 25th and 26th runs batted in for the month, tying a Twins April record. It was a sweet finish to a fantastic night for Colabello.

The 12th inning started for Minnesota with a leadoff infield single by Mauer. Plouffe then followed with a double to put runners on second and third. Colabello then broke open the 4-4 tie.
Trailing 2-0 in the game, Colabello had a special moment in the game. He homered to tie the game at two and gave his mom, who was at the game a special birthday present.
He finished the game 2-6 with 4 RBIs. Former Ray’s fan-favorite Sam Fuld added two hits in his Twins debut.
Offensively for the Twins it was another high strikeout night. As a team against seven Rays pitchers, the Twins struck out 14 more times. Jason Kubel fanned four times himself.
Mike Pelfrey started for the Twins, he didn’t factor in the decision. It was an improved effort for Pelfrey, but he again failed to pick up a quality start. Pelfrey went 5-plus innings. He gave up 4 runs (3 earned) on six hits.
Pelfrey still didn’t show a lot of control as he walked three Rays hitters and worked frequently from behind in the count.
Casey Fien pitched 2 1/3 innings of hitless relief. He struck out three. Glenn Perkins picked up the save with a perfect 12th inning.
The Twins and Rays will play the final game of the series on Thursday afternoon.
