Joe Mauer’s debut as a Major League leadoff hitter will have to wait at least one more day. The series opener between the Twins and Baltimore Orioles was rained out Monday night at Target Field.
The game will be made up Thursday, July 28.
Rain had been falling for most of the day in downtown Minneapolis. However, the skies had been dry for about an hour when the game was called.
The Associated Press notes that officials called off the game with the radar showing heavy precipitation approaching.

It was already the fourth game postponed this season for the Orioles, who also just played a doubleheader over the weekend.
In addition to Mauer’s debut as the leadoff hitter, Jose Berrios was also set to make his second start at Target Field. He will start Tuesday night.
