A five-run rally in the eighth inning wasn’t enough as the Minnesota Twins’ five-game winning streak was snapped in a 10-7 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday afternoon.
Cincinnati got on the board first with Tucker Barnhart’s solo home run in the third inning but Ryan Jeffers gave the Twins the lead with a two-run shot in the fourth.

Despite the early lead, Twins starter Bailey Ober ran into trouble in the top of the fifth. Jesse Winker gave the Reds the lead with two-run double before Eugenio Suárez added an RBI single to make it a 4-2 game.
The Reds added to their lead when Alexander Colomé allowed three runs in the top of the eighth to make it a 7-2 game but began their comeback in the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run from Max Kepler.

Trevor Larnach followed suit two batters later with a 434-foot blast to right field that made it a 7-5 game.

The Twins’ rally continued with a single from Jeffers before Miguel SanĂł doubled off the top of the left-field wall to put the tying run in scoring position. Alex Kirilloff capitalized in the next at-bat with a two-run double that tied the game at 7-7.

But the Twins’ rally couldn’t overcome their bullpen. Hansel Robles entered the game in the ninth and allowed a double to Nick Castellanos before hitting Robert Stephenson with a pitch.
With two men on, Tyler Naquin delivered the fatal blow with a three-run homer that effectively put the Twins away.
The Twins (31-42) have an off day on Wednesday before opening a four-game series with the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night.
