Since the All-Star Break the Twins’ offense has scored the second most runs in the American League.
The biggest reason for the offensive surge? The long ball.
Minnesota has hit 148 home runs through 124 games this season – which is the most since 1987, when they had 153 homers through the same amount of games. And we all remember what happened that season.
Hell, they’ve hit more bombs already than they did in all of 2014, 2012, 2011 and 2010.
Led by Miguel Sano and Brian Dozier, the Twins already have five players in double-digit totals. They could even finish the season with nine players in double figures.
- Miguel Sano, 28
- Brain Dozier, 26
- Eddie Rosario, 17
- Max Kepler, 16
- Eduardo Escobar, 11
- Byron Buxton, 9
- Kennys Vargas, 8
- Jason Castro, 7
- Robbie Grossman, 7
The 148 dingers are the second most in the Central Division and the seventh most in the American League.
Last season the team clubbed 200 home runs for the first time since 1964. They’ll need 52 home runs over the next 38 games to get to 200 again.
