Gophers coach Tubby Smith held a rare session with local reporters Wednesday following his big win over No. 1 Indiana.

Smith, among other topics, said the Gopher victory — seen around the world on ESPN — would help him recruit.

The coach also said Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder and ex-punter Greg Coleman dropped by before the game to give his players a little pep talk.
Smith said the QB compared the end of the Vikings season to the way the Gophers can win end theirs.
