Tough news for the Minnesota Twins Saturday with the announcement of Trevor May’s season-ending injury.
May was diagnosed with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, likely meaning Tommy John surgery is necessary.
May was competing for a spot in the starting rotation and had just pitched a pretty solid 3 2/3 innings when the Twins beat team USA in a tune-up game for the World Baseball Classic. He suffered the torn ligament in that game.
The Twins say May will get a second opinion on Sunday, but the expectation is that he’s done for the season.
Sometimes you work and work, and life roudhouse kicks you in the face anyways.
Good thing my jaw is made of titanium.

With May out, the fifth spot in the rotation is now a competition between Tyler Duffey, Jose Berrios, Adalberto Mejia, Justin Haley and Ryan Vogelsong, according to Twins Daily.
