Apparently healed from an injury that took him out of commission last month, top Twins outfield prospect Oswaldo Arcia is set to make his spring training debut Sunday when the team plays at home against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Pioneer Press reports.
Arcia was set to make his debut in the Twins’ Grapefruit League home opener against the Tampa Bay Rays Feb. 24, but was removed from the lineup indefinitely by manager Ron Gardenhire when the outfielder pulled the intercostal muscle on his left side.
Gardenhire already has Arcia name written in the lineup for Sunday, but it won’t be official until the training staff clears him. Twins head athletic trainer Dave Pruemer said the chances of Arcia playing looked good.
Arcia, 21, was Twins’ Minor League Player of the Year in 2012.
Also Saturday, the Twins said right fielder Chris Parmalee won’t probably return to the lineup until Wednesday, the Pioneer Press reports.
Parmalee is reportedly trying to avoid any setbacks as he continues rehabilitation for right groin tightness.
