It’s been a busy week for former Timberwolves first-round pick Christian Laettner.
First, the jersey he wore when he made “the shot” at the buzzer against Kentucky to send Duke to the 1992 NCAA Championship game sold for nearly $120,000. Now, old school video of Laettner getting his head slammed to the basketball court has popped up.
Deadspin has the video. Connecticut’s Rod Sellers took some frustration out on Laettner’s head after a battle for a lose ball. Sellers landed on top of Laettner, elbowed him in the face and then slammed his head to the floor twice.
It happened in the 1991 Midwest Regional of the NCAA Tournament. Duke won the game, 81-67.
Sellers sent a letter of apology to Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski a few days the incident.
