Ricky Rubio is one of the flashiest players in the NBA and he provided an example of why during the Timberwolves win over the Suns in Phoenix last night.
The Wolves were trailing by four points, 70-66 midway through the third quarter when Rubio decided to dart inside the 3-point line with an aggressive move to get to the rim for a layup. He blew right by Phoenix point guard Goran Dragic, who then slowed Rubio by grabbing his arm. Rubio maintained his balance, and while spinning around and turning his back to the basket, flipped the ball over his head and banked in a pretty ridiculous shot.
Rubio isn’t even close to being considered a great, much less good NBA shooter. His career shooting percentage is a porous 36.3 percent. According to Pro Basketball Talk, Rubio takes 42 percent of his shots at the rim, hitting only 44.6 percent of those attempts.
Rubio finished with seven points on eight shots last night, but he led the Wolves with 11 assists in the come-from-behind victory.
