Athletes have wised up to the point where they rarely give TMZ’s floating reporters a quote to make headlines, but it’s still fun to watch when they run down Minnesota’s athletes.
Last week, TMZ found Jimmy Butler on the street and asked him if the Wolves are going to trade for Cavaliers All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving.
“I don’t know who that is,” Butler said before shutting himself inside his car.
Of course Butler knows Irving. They’re good friends reports last month said Butler and Karl-Anthony Towns were urging the Wolves to trade for Irving.
TMZ also ran down new Timberwolves guard Jamal Crawford this week and asked him about Irving.
“I have no idea because he’s not actually free, so that would have to be a trade,” Crawford said.” I don’t know, but he’s a great player.”
