Playing for the first time on Mother’s Day, Karl-Anthony Towns scored 27 points and pulled down nine rebounds as the Minnesota Timberwolves routed the Orlando Magic 128-96 on Sunday night.
Prior to tip-off, Towns shared a moment with his father Karl Sr. as they embraced on the Timberwolves bench. Towns mother, Jacqueline, died in April 2020 due to complications from COVID-19 and as a Mother’s Day tribute, Towns responded with one of his best games of the season.

Towns and the Timberwolves came out on fire as they jumped over Orlando for a 34-19 lead in the first quarter. While Towns led the Timberwolves in scoring, he was joined by D’Angelo Russell who also scored 27 points with eight assists and six rebounds.

With Towns and Russell leading the way, the Wolves held a 30-point lead at halftime, which was highlighted by a thunderous dunk by Naz Reid.

Anthony Edwards added a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds and the Timberwolves rolled to victory. Minnesota is now 20-47 on the season and will travel to Detroit on Tuesday night.
