Timberwolves rookie Justin Patton suffered a broken bone in his left foot at a recent workout and he’ll be out indefinitely – meaning he won’t take part in the NBA Summer League which begins this month.
Patton already underwent successful surgery in New York to repair the broken bone, according to a team news release.
The 20-year-old center was acquired by Minnesota on draft night along with Jimmy Butler from Chicago in exchange for Zach LaVine and Kris Dunn.
He played one season at Creighton University, where he earned Big East Freshman of the Year while averaging 12.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Patton also set an NCAA record for the highest field goal percentage (.679 percent) by a freshman during the 2016-17 season.
