The San Antonio Spurs smacked the Wolves deeper into their losing streak with a 106-88 win in Texas last night.
That means Minnesota has now lost three straight to sink to 16-18, and have dropped nine of their last 14 games stretching back to Dec. 17.
With Kevin Love out of the lineup until mid-March at the earliest — Star Tribune beat reporter Jerry Zgoda asks the question this morning: Do you feel it slipping away already?
Forward Andrei Kirilenko told the Pioneer Press: “We can’t look at the standings right now” … but … “to be in the playoffs, you have to win games.”
That could start as early as tonight when the Wolves head to Dallas (15-23), another Western Conference team struggling mightily this season. Minnesota has two wins over the Mavericks so far, with the latest victory — on Dec. 15 — capping a four-game winning streak at the time.
Those wins, however, were without Dirk Nowitzki in the lineup, who was still recovering from knee surgery.
