The Minnesota Timberwolves rallied from a 17-point deficit on Monday night but the Brooklyn Nets ultimately held on to hand Minnesota a 112-107 defeat at Barclays Center.
The Nets got off to a fast start in the first half with the play of James Harden. The Brooklyn star recorded a triple-double on the evening, putting up a game-high 38 points to go with 13 assists and 11 rebounds to lead the Nets to a 61-52 lead at halftime.
With Kyrie Irving adding 27 points and seven rebounds, the Nets had control of the game building a large lead heading into the fourth quarter.
But the Timberwolves showed some fight in the final frame behind Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards. Towns put up 31 points and 12 rebounds on the night and Edwards added 23 points and 10 rebounds to help Minnesota carve the lead down to one point in the final seconds.
Edwards had a clear look at the go-ahead basket, but his floater went off the front of the rim and the Nets came away with the victory.
The Timberwolves fell to 11-35 with the loss and will host the New York Knicks on Wednesday night.
