The Timberwolves began training camp Friday and are little over two weeks from opening the season at Target Center against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Needless to say, there are plenty of story lines entering a brand new season.
Let’s start with the defense. Rick Adelman, in his first season as head coach, has watched film of last year’s defense and says “it was horrendous.” Minnesota allowed a league worst 107.7 points/game.
Fixing the worst defense in the league won’t be easy for Adelman and his coaching staff. Making matters is worse is that Martell Webster underwent back surgery, and is out indefinitely. Webster has dealt with back problems throughout his career.
Sometimes the best defense is a good offense. Ricky Rubio will play a large role in helping the Wolves score points. Kevin Love is excited to play with the rookie. Love says Rubio can “pass the [expletive] out of the ball.”
