This was the scene Wednesday night at Target Center as the Minnesota Timberwolves hosted an inter-squad scrimmage.
More than 15,000 fans turned out to watch the Wolves’ scrimmage – that’s more than the team attracted to some of its games last season.

Needless to say, there’s a lot of excitement around this team after last month’s NBA Draft.
With top pick Karl-Anthony Towns and Apple Valley native Tyus Jones to play alongside last year’s top-pick Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine, the Wolves hope their group of youngsters will help turn Minnesota into a Western Conference contender.

It’s a big goal for a team that hasn’t made the NBA playoffs in 11 seasons.
But Wednesday night was about the excitement this group has helped to generate. The ‘game’ was filled with dunks, three-pointers and an impressive showing by Towns.

The Black team won the game 60-57, but that wasn’t really what the night was about. It was more about giving fans their first chance to see how the young core plays together, before they head for the Las Vegas Summer League.
Minnesota will open summer league play on Friday night against the Los Angeles Lakers.
FYI: Black Team wins 60-57. In case you're wondering, that is @KarlTowns' team. #GrowTogether
