Stephen Gonsalves has flown under the radar in the minor leagues this season and is having himself a phenomenal year.
Through A+ and AA this season, Gonsalves has an ERA of 2.08 in 125 innings. After making 11 starts in Fort Myers, he was promoted to Chattanooga where his strikeout rate continues to climb.
In 10 starts this season at AA, he is averaging just under 11 strikeouts per 9 innings and has been nearly unhittable with opponents hitting a measly .159 against him in AA.
In his last start for Chattanooga, he carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning.

The southpaw was drafted in the fourth-round of the 2013 MLB and is just 22-years-old.
Coming into this season, Gonsalves was ranked as the Twins’ 4th best prospect and that’s behind two other pitchers. Tyler Jay is No. 3 and top prospect Jose Berrios is currently on the big league roster.
Gonsalves and Jay are teammates again after being together for the first half of the season in Fort Myers. Jay pitched well in A+ but has struggled since being called up to AA.
Berrios has been ripping through the minor leagues for the past three seasons and is considered one of the best prospects in all of baseball, but he has yet to show the same success at the major league level.
Although Gonsalves has yet to pitch in AAA, don’t be surprised if he’s making his big league debut when rosters expand next month.
