The Vikings announced today that U.S. Bank Stadium is “substantially complete.”
What does that mean? It means that the building can be used for all of its intended purposes, like football games, concerts and other events.
Minor work still has to be done, but they’ve officially finished construction six weeks ahead of schedule. It wasn’t scheduled to be done until July 29.

“U.S. Bank Stadium was designed with the fan experience as the number one priority, and to accomplish this milestone ahead of schedule is a testament to the talent and dedication by so many,” Vikings President/Owner Mark Wilf said in a statement.
Up next is a ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony on July 22, followed by free open houses on July 23-24. Get tickets for the grand opening here.
The first sporting event is set for Aug. 3 with AC Milan taking on Chelsea F.C. in soccer.
Luke Bryan and Metallica will perform Aug. 19 and Aug. 20, and the first Vikings game is Aug. 28 against the Chargers in Week 3 of the preseason.
