Gophers men’s basketball coach Richard Pitino has added another player to this year’s recruiting class.
Jordan Murphy, a 6-foot-7, 220-pound wing, has committed to the University of Minnesota.

Murphy is the seventh recruit to join the 2015 class. He joins guards Jarvis Johnson, Dupree McBrayer, Kevin Dorsey, wing Ahmad Gilbert and big man Jonathan Nwankwo as well as transfer Reggie Lynch.

Murphy chose Minnesota over some pretty tough competition, with Indiana and Boston College among his other suitors.

The Star Tribune’s Amelia Rayno notes the San Antonio native originally committed to VCU, but chose to reopen his recruitment after former Rams coach Shaka Smart became the head coach at Texas.
