Cam Talbot earned his third shutout of the year and Matt Boldy produced a highlight-reel goal to help the Minnesota Wild pick up a 2-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night.
Minnesota started the game by peppering Carey Price in the first period. Although the Wild had several opportunities, Kevin Fiala broke through, scoring his 30th goal of the season off a feed from Mats Zuccarello to put Minnesota on the board.

Despite the early lead, the Wild played defensively in the second period. Tyler Pitlick appeared to score the equalizer for Montreal midway through the second frame but a challenge ruled that Frederick Gaudreau was pushed into Talbot, keeping the Canadiens off the board.
The advantage held up into the third when Boldy played a carom off the end boards and went between the legs for his 15th goal of the season.

With a two-goal lead, Talbot was ready to shut the door. The Wild netminder was brilliant in net, stopping all 26 shots he faced to help Minnesota come away with the victory.
The win helped the Wild pull into a tie with the St. Louis Blues for home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The Blues fell to the Boston Bruins in overtime on Tuesday, leaving both teams with 103 points.
With a game in hand, the Wild will look to keep pace with the Blues when they host the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night.
